The Indian government has given administrative approval and financial sanction to construct 12 nuclear power reactors in the country.
10 of the dozen projects will be 700MW indigenous pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) and will be set u pin fleet mode. The remaining two will be light water reactors (LWRs) that will be built in cooperation with the Russian Federation.
India currently builds seven nuclear projects with a total capacity of 5300MW.
