Australia's New South Wales targets 77,000MW of wind and solar projects
This is in preparation for its shift away from coal.
The New South Wales government has singled out three key renewable energy zones that could provide 77GW of wind and solar capacity. These areas are New England, the central west, and the south-west.
The central west is targeted to have solar capacity of 15GW and wind capacity of 3GW, apart from another 3.4GW of solar projects approved or seeking approval.
NSW eyes that its coal portfolio will shrink as generators retire in 2020s and 2030s.
