Dieter Billen takes the stage to discuss his forecasts on solar energy

He will discuss the potential growth areas in Southeast Asian markets.

Dieter Billen is a principal at Roland Berger. He originally started at the firm's Brussels office in Belgium and has worked in several countries across Southeast Asia. He consults on infrastructure development, including setting up public-private partnerships, with a particular focus on power and renewables.

Asian Power sat down with Dieter Billen to relate his expertise in Southeast Asia and his role in supporting the global transition from dirty energy.

What are the previous experiences and positions you've held that contributed to who you are as an expert today?

I am leading Roland Berger's Utilities & Energy Practice in Southeast Asia. My project experience includes negotiating the contractual agreements between the Myanmar government and private investors in utilities, conducting commercial and financial feasibility studies for new power plants in Southeast Asia, assessing the opportunities of renewable energy across Asia and identifying investment opportunities, assessing the feasibility of investments in mini-grids in Southeast Asia, etc.

What are your key business philosophies?

Be passionate about what you do in your business life. And what [could] be more interesting than supporting the world transition from fossil-based energy to renewables?

Can you give us a glimpse of what you will share at the Asian Power Utility Forum?

I will talk about the potential of solar energy in Southeast Asia and India, including forecasts of solar power and investment opportunities for private companies in the solar energy sector.

The 2019 Asian Power Utility Forum - Roadshow Series will take place on 6 and 13 May in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. To learn more about the event, click here. To register, click here. For inquiries, you may contact Andrea at [email protected] or at +65 3158 1386 ext 212.
