Toshiba to construct Japan's biggest solar power plant
Toshiba will start constructing the biggest PV project in Japan totaling 100MW with an investment of US$379.6 million in the Minami Soma coastline.
Minami Soma lies only 25km north of Fukushima and the town’s inhabitants were forced to flee their homes when the government declared parts of Minami Soma a “no-go zone” after the nuclear disaster.
The project will overtake Kyocera’s 70MW solar power plant in terms of size.
Toshiba’s plans were revealed just a week after very generous feed-in tariffs were announced by the Japanese government.
