
Bangladesh signs largest private power EPC deal with China
The largest private EPC sector deal!
It's how the agreement between Bangladesh's Summit Bibiyana II Power Company Limited and China's First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Company is called in Bangladesh.
The US$ 220 million Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract between Summit Bibyana and NEPC will help Bibiyana 341 MW combined cycle power project will generate much needed 341 MW of electricity by about June 2014 at the lowest tariff of Tk1.90 per kWhr.
This will also enable China to showcase their prowess in technology and construction of an advance class “F” technology most efficient power project employing more than 200 Chinese technicians in Bangladesh, this will also show case Bangladesh’s ability specifically private sector’s ability to own andoperate such large scale projects.
Faisal Karim Khan, director of Summit Bibiyana II Power Company Limited and Qian Xuegang, President of First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Company, were the signatories to the contract.
The project’s Gas Turbine will be supplied from USA by General Electric Corporation.
