Large wave power project to begin in Australia
Project will generate renewable energy from ocean waves.
Construction on a major wave energy project is about to begin in Western Australia at HMAS Stirling, Australia's largest naval base.
The technology behind the Perth Wave Energy Project has been developed over the past 10 years and promises to make Australia a global leader in wave energy.
Wave energy is the transport of energy by ocean surface waves, and the capture of that energy to do useful work as electricity generation and water desalination, for example. Machinery able to exploit wave power is generally known as a wave energy converter.
