Chinese firm to build 50 MW wind farm in Pakistan
Intends to build nine more.
HydroChina International Engineering Company, Ltd is building the wind farm in wind farm in Gharo, 60 kilometers east of Karachi at an estimated cost of US$120 million.
The project will begin operations by June 2015 and will also provide employment for locals residing in the area. HydroChina International also plans to build nine more wind farms of 50MW each in Pakistan’s “wind corridor.”
The project is being billed as a symbol of China-Pakistan friendship. It is being implemented by HydroChina Dawood Power Ltd, a jointly incorporated company.
