Solar energy can meet New Delhi's power needs
Can provide up to 16% of the capital’s energy.
A report by Greenpeace India, Rooftop Revolution: Unleashing Delhi's Solar Potential, said New Delhi can generate 4,500 million kilowatt hours of solar power every year by installing photovoltaic panels on 1.6% of the city's roof space.
Greenpeace India noted that the capital is facing serious electricity crisis and tariffs have been rising steeply. Solar energy provides an alternative pathway.
