Construction of mega-solar power plant in Japan begins
Plant will generate 11.7 MW.
Japanese financial service group Orix Corporation has begun building a 11.7 MW mega-solar power plant in Omuta City in Fukuoka Prefecture.
The plant will spread across 171,115 m2 and will eventually have 47,838 solar panels producing 13 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power 33,620 households.
In June 2013, Orix announced its plan to develop mega-solar and rooftop solar power generation businesses at 77 sites totaling 170 MW capacity with 143.2 MW alone coming from mega-solar power plants.
