Gujarat expands solar energy capacity

Will focus more on rooftop solar systems.

The Indian state of Gujarat intends to generate 5 MW energy from each rooftop solar panel system in the cities of Mehsana, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Vadodara.

Gujarat will also train students in solar energy technology to ensure adequate manpower to help maintain the rise in rooftop solar energy generators the government is eyeing. It is alsao considering framing a separate policy on how to attract solar manufacturers across the state.

The state government described Gujarat as the “Germany of India” for its role in lowering solar energy prices India.
