Thermal power generation groups in China record losses

China's five big power generation groups recorded total losses of 13.719 billion yuan from thermal power generation in 2010.

These include China Huaneng, China Datang Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, China Guodian Corporation and China Power Investment Corporation, reports caing.com.

Zhai Ruoyu, the former general manager of China Datang Corporatio, said that the five groups operated 436 thermal power generation companies in 2010, of which 436 recorded losses.

Zhao attributes the losses to the surge in thermal coal prices.
