India's NTPC completes commissioning of 260MW solar project

The last 55MW were commissioned March 27.

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has completed commissioning of the 260 MW solar project being developed under its self-owned projects program. The final 55 MW of the project were commissioned on March 27, 2017, according to Mercom Capital Group.

The NTPC commissioned the project as expected, on time, stated an NTPC official. Mercom previously reported the entire 260 MW NTPC farm was expected to be commissioned by the end of March 2017.

Vikram Solar, Tata Power and Jakson Engineers were the EPCs of the project with 130 MW, 65 MW and 65 MW respectively. Vikram Solar bid Rs.56.28 million (~$839,586)/MW; Tata Power bid Rs.56.4 million (~$809,750)/MW; and Jakson Engineers bid Rs.56.34 million (~$840,482)/MW.

For project commissioning purposes, the entire capacity was broken down into blocks of 5 MW each, an NTPC official had told Mercom.

According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, the NTPC has a portfolio of 620 MW of commissioned solar projects, with an additional 250 MW to be commissioned by the end of March 2017.
