In the event of a mains failure, the UPS system maintains power supply until the three generator sets come online and take over within 10 seconds.On the other hand, the Cummins DMC1000 digital master control system monitors the building load, provides load control as well as provides a function called load demand which ensures the generator sets running, are only those needed to meet the building’s demands.This effectively reduces unnecessary running of the generators and improves fuel economy. A large challenge that Cummins Power Generation faced was to maintain emergency power to News Ltd headquarters during the removal of the old generator sets and installation of the new system to keep the headquarters at maximum operational efficiency.
