China's power generators increase coal use
Daily coal consumption in power plants owned by leading Chinese generators further increased from December 11 to 17. This is due to soaring heating demand with steep falling in temperature.
The daily coal consumption at power plants of Shanghai Municipal Electric, Guangdong Yudean, and Guodian increased over 10 per cent from a week ago, reported Qinhuangdao Seaborne Coal Market.
Notably, power plants under Shanghai Municipal Electric used an average of 37,600 tonnes coal each day, growing 15.35 per cent week on week, data showed.
However, coal consumption in Zhejiang Electric and Huaneng power plants declined slightly, while that of Datang kept unchanged from a week ago, the industry portal said.
