Emerson automates two 1,000MW units at Chinese power plant
Emerson is automating two 1,000MW ultra-supercritical, power-generating units at the Jiangsu Xinhai power plant in China.
The new units replaced two old, less-efficient 220MW units that have been decommissioned.
Using its Ovation expert control system, Emerson will monitor and control boilers and turbines at the units built by Jiangsu Guoxin Investment Group.
The Ovation system will perform data acquisition, as well as manage each unit's flue gas desulfurisation system, modulating control system, sequence control system, electrical control system, furnace safety supervisory system, feed-water turbine control system and balance-of-plant processes.
Emerson will also supply around 1,000 Rosemount differential pressure, level and flow transmitters for the plant.
Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions president Bob Yeager said industry leaders like Jiangsu Guoxin Investment Group understand the importance of choosing the right automation for ultra-supercritical and supercritical power plants.
