
GD Power to invest $285M in Inner Mongolia
GD Power will invest US$285 million to build the first phase of the Bulian power plant and undertake supplementary work on the Chahasu mine.
According to 163.com, the plans for the said project were made by GD Power’s subsidiary, GD Construction Company.
The Bulian power plant is located in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. The work involves the building of six units of 600 MW air-cooled coal-firing units. Two 600MW USC air-cooled coal-firing units will be built in the first phase. The first phase work of the Bulian plant has an internal rate of return of eight per cent.
The Chahasu mine is located in Ordos. It covers an area of 157.69 square kilometers and has coal reserves of 2.82 billon tons and renewable reserves of 1.64 billion tons.
GD Power will cooperate with Inner Mongolia Guodian Energy Investment, a joint venture of China Guodian Corporation and the Inner Mongolia government, to build three coal mines with total reserves of 1.65 billion tons in Xilin Hot and ZhunGeEr in Inner Mongolia.
The two parties also agreed to build two railroad tracks and three coal storage units while expanding their cooperation in the wind power, solar energy, and synthetic natural gas fields.
The company plans to expand its total installed capacity to 60GW by the end of 2015, of which thermal power will account for 59 per cent of installed capacity, wind power will account for 22.38 per cent, hydropower will account for 15.98 per cent and solar power will account for 2.4 per cent.
