Roth & Rau to expand Asian manufacturing operations

Roth & Rau has purchased a production facility from electronics firm, Possehl Electronics in, Shenzhen, China to better serve customers in the region.

As part of the deal, equipment and personnel ofaround 145 employees will be retained by the PV equipment supplier. Roth & Rau is being acquired by Meyer Burger.

"Maintaining a strong local presence is a precondition for a profitable after-sales business in Asia. Only by having proprietary production on location can we offer our Asian customers an optimal mix of quality, suitable costs and short delivery times," commented, Dr. Dietmar Roth, CEO of Roth & Rau AG.

Roth & Rau said that it would using the existing infrastructure and available expertise at the facility to further expand its spare parts and service business.
