Bangladesh villages to receive hydro power
Dozens of hilly villages in Borkal under the Rangamati district will now get electricity generated by a small hydroelectric power plant.
Border Guard Bangladesh and Ontech Power System Limited has set up the plant having a capacity of generating two megawatts of electricity. The plant, first of its kind in the district, generates power using the natural flow of fountains. It was set up at a cost of Tk 2.6 crore as a pilot project.
Initially 50 kilwatts electricity is being generated but the plant will generate more electricity as there are plenty of waterfalls and fountains in Borkal.
