
Huaneng to build Shidao Bay gas-cooled reactor
China Huaneng Group will build China’s first high-temperature gas-cooled reactor in Shidao Bay, Shandong province.
The company recently won the nod of the National Development and Reform Commission to do the project.The Shidao Bay nuclear power plant is projected to have capacity of 200MW and will cost US$456 million in total.
Construction of the plant will take four years. Huaneng Group holds a controlling stake of 47.5 percent in the project.
In addition, China Huaneng Group has a 45 percent stake in the CAP1400 nuclear power project and a 49 percent stake in the Hainan Changjiang nuclear power plant.
