Canadian group to build 600MW PV facility in China
Canadian Solar will build a 600MW photovoltaic cell production factory in Jiangsu Province, China.
It has signed an agreement with Suzhou New District Economic Development Group and Suzhou Science and Technology City Development.
Canadian Solar will invest 61% of the registered equity for the plant, which will produce the firm's ELPS and ESE solar cells.
Construction of the plant is expected to start immediately and operations are set to commence by 2012, subject to the receipt of necessary permits.
Canadian Solar chairman and CEO Dr. Shawn Qu said the new development is in line with the company's goal as it aims to move towards wafer, cell and module vertical integration.
