NTPC speeds up plans for 4x600MW supercritical plants

It plans to accomplish this before the 2019 elections.

According to Enerdasta, India's state-owned power utility National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) plans to speed up its expansion plans for the installation of four 660 MW super-critical units in two Uttar Pradesh coal-fired power plants ahead of the 2019 elections. The company expects to complete at least two 660 MW units, respectively located in Meja (Allahabad) and Tanda (Ambedkarnagar) in August and September 2018, respectively, while the two remaining ones will come onstream later on.

The 440 MW Tanda power plant is entirely owned by NTPC while the Meja power plant is a joint venture of NTPC and Uttar Pradesh's state owned Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL). NTPC is also considering expanding its 2,000 MW Singrauli coal-fired power plant in Uttar Pradesh by another 1,320 MW.
