Three LNG plants in China to receive new compressor trains

Equipment will be used for liquefying synthetic natural gas.

The compressor trains will be installed in three plants owned by Hangzhou Zhongtai Cryogenic Technology. Each consists of a six-stage vertically-split compressor and a Siemens constant speed electric motor.

This type of drive and control, using inlet guide vane assemblies, provides more efficient and reliable operation than conventional compressor solutions.

These plants have a capacity of 500,000 standard cubic meters/day of gas. The machines will be handed over to Hangzhou Zhongtai in June 2014, after a delivery period of 12 months.

Siemens notes that this type of drive and control using inlet guide vane assemblies provides more efficient and reliable operation than conventional compressor solutions with throttle valve or speed control. The Siemens compressor trains also compresses the mixed refrigerant that cools the natural gas.

The compressor trains will be entirely fabricated, assembled and packaged with the drives in Huludao, China.
