Asian Utility Week 2016 attracts record number of international utilities

Industry players are focusing on digital transformation strategies.

Asian Utility Week 2016 is a large scale expo with conference designed specifically for Asian utilities who seek to transform their utility business model to include digital enablers. It is known as Asia’s leader in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and features other innovations designed specifically to improve the customer’s experience of energy services.

The Digital Utility and Customer focussed themes are attracting interest from across the utility world. Groups of new participants are confirmed from TEPCO, KEPCO, RWE, E.ON, ENGIE, Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Tata Power. They join local digital specialists from utilities including: SP Services, MERALCO, TNB, EVN, PLN, PEA, MEA and EGAT.

The total crowd is anticipated to be 2500 participants – a jump of over 500 people from last year.

Asian Utility Week takes place at the Centara Grand, Bangkok Convention Centre, Thailand on 31 May to 1 June 2016. The expo features two days of free content for visitors including 8 one hour long Focus Groups featuring industry experts talking about hot topic themes such as Microgrids, AMI Infrastructure and Rooftop Solar and Storage. There are also 3 free conference streams which we call Zones.  The Startup Zone is dedicated to smart energy start-ups from Asia and beyond. The Innovation Zone is dedicated to R&D specialists who discuss new research on smart energy themes. The Technical Zone is dedicated to new product releases from leading vendors – ideal for updating customers. On the evening of 31 May, there is an Innovation Awards Dinner with prizes given to utilities and vendors who have demonstrated excellence in their new technology delivery. The event is free for utility employees who book through the Utility Partnership Program.

Asian Utility Week 2016 is part of a global series of Utility expos. The event’s mission is to help utilities build customer facing digital process to improve customer engagement, energy efficiency and operational excellence. It has been running for 17 years and attracts an audience who are interested in using technology to transform the utility business model. It takes an advanced level perspective of international technology trends bringing the best new solutions from around the world to benefit the delegates. According to the Event Director, Roderic Mclauchlan:

“Delegates told us they didn’t want to have to travel to Europe or the USA to learn about what’s new. They wanted us to bring the new ideas to them – and to include as many innovators from Asia – especially those who have found cheaper, easier and safer ways to get the job done. So that’s exactly what we have done! Not surprisingly it’s very popular.”
