India's SECI awards 1.2GW of solar projects
The tenders for the projects had a ceiling tariff of 3.38 cents per kWh.
State-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has awarded 1.2 GW of solar projects, receiving bids for 3.5 GW. SECI granted 600 MW to SB Energy, 300 MW to EDF and 100 MW to AMP Energy at INR2.50/kWh (US$3.45c/kWh) and 300 MW Power to Renew at INR2.51 (US$3.46c/kWh). The auction had a ceiling tariff of INR2.78/kWh (US$3.38c/kWh).
In November 2019, SECI has awarded four solar power projects in its 1,200 MW solar auction (960 MW allotted). Three companies, namely Renew, Avaada and UPC Renewables won 300 MW each at a tariff of INR2.71/kWh, while Tata Power won 60 MW at INR 2.72/kWh. This will help India come closer to its 2022 goal to develop 175 GW of renewable capacity (100 GW of solar and 60 GW of wind). Currently only 86 GW of this goal has been fulfilled.
